I put together a promo mix to celebrate the relaunch of Rinse Out Thursdays – every Thursday night at Wontonmama (109 Clarence St in Ottawa’s Byward Market), featuring reggae, dancehall, dub, dubstep, uk funky, and of course jungle/dnb. I’ll be locking down three nights a month, and we’ll host a special guest on the other. The kitchen’s open until 2am, there’s NO COVER, and we kick things off around 10pm. Maximum respect to Sunny Daze for finding us a new home and re-launching my favourite night of the week!

So this is the first Gabber set we’ve ever hosted – we have funk, jungle, dubstep, electro, minimal, psy trance, etc etc etc, but no Gabber. UNTIL NOW (cue the thunder and lightning just beyond the sparsely curtained window)

If you aren’t familiar with DJ Sicatrix, she plays hard and fast and is one of the Ottawa rave scene’s better kept secrets. Check out her facebook page, or better yet, come by Rush Delivery tonight and hear her play in the upstairs room from 9-10pm. I’ll be playing jungle and hardcore right after her from 10-11pm.

In the mean time, grab her mix and give it a listen – I know Gabber isn’t for everyone (I’m not the biggest fan myself), but it’s a really tight mix and some of the selection will definitely appeal to the more jungle- and dubstep-oriented crew, seen?

this is one mix that I put more work into than any other. i started it in february 2009, and finished it on september 25 2011

my goal with this mix was to make sure every track going into it is a really awesome one – and avoid putting lesser ones into the mix just to bridge a gap between other tracks

in the end, there were so many tunes i wanted to squeeze in there. there are over 30 tracks, spanning 2 hours and 15 minutes. i kept most of the tracks fairly short, to keep things changing up. its a very high-energy mix, right from the start, save for a few well-deserved breakdowns.

please hit me with some feedback on this one – after all the hard work, i’d love to know how it’s received.

after a damn long hiatus, i released this mix on may 24th. i had been working on one mix in specific since february 2009, but needed to take a break and work on something different.

this one starts of pretty deep and minimal. it transitions through some darker, introspective vibes, and gradually picks up into more uplifting and trancey / progressive vibes.

dj.daisy has been a dj around the Ottawa area for many years. She currently has a monthly gig at Raw Sugar and is known for her 7-inch-only night ‘Stars on 45′. Dj. daisy enjoys throwing parties outdoors and playing records outside in all kinds of weather.

She’ll be joined by Saxon & Sarcastro. Selection for the night will be funk, breaks, reggae, dancehall, dubstep, jungle, and a few things in between.
